We spend a lot of time reading to our kids, so we thought we would read this awesome story to them before we take them to the movie! They are loving it and can't wait until we get to see it. We are almost finished and then we will go and see it during Christmas break. I don't know how good the movie is yet ( I'll let you know) but I highly recommend the book!
After too many years with our Charlie Brown-style artificial tree, we harvested our own this year.
Decisions are the worst. We circled the whole field a couple of times narrowing down the selection. They were a flat rate of $20, so we were thinking big!

The Lay's potato chip guy was also there getting a tree with his family. He let us each pick our favorites from the enormous supply in his truck (Kid #2=Cheetos, Kid#1=Popcorn, Mom=Sun Chips, Dad=Dortitos; afterwards everyone regretted that we forgot to check for salt and vinegar). Deciding on the perfect snack was almost as hard as picking the perfect tree.
Well the festivities from the past 2 weeks are over. What a nice Birthday for her. It was so sweet when she came out of the font and said "I am freezing, I feel GOOD!" Thanks to all the friends and family that made it such a memorable time for her. The party was great, she loved the "American girl mystery party" with her closest friends. The baptism program was delightful with grandpa and grandma speaking, #1 even sang a solo that I tried to accompany. I am relieved that "Birthday Season" is finally over, just in time to start thinking about the holidays. Sigh.
So this is the skunk living under our neighbors' porch. We caught him/her eating the trash they left on their front step. Don't worry, nothing was going to take it away from the loot it had just found. It didn't even indicate that we were there taking pictures. Does anyone know how to get rid of a skunk without causing any damage?
I can't believe our girl is 8! The things I love most about her: She always tries to make others happy, she is kind to everyone, she is an amazing big sister (a second mom) to her brothers, she loves to be a star, she loves school and always has the teachers so proud. She writes the coolest, most creative stories. She is sometimes shy, but is a friend to everyone. Wow, she has added so much happiness to my life!
Well my friend from High school tagged me, and since I don't talk with her much I thought I would answer. MY List goes like this: 1. My three joys are: *Spending time with my family, *spending a sunny day outside, *the feeling I get after I make something cool. 2. Three Fears: *something bad happening to my kids, *spiders, *biking with cars on the road. 3.Three goals: * have FHE every week, *to spend individual time with each of my kids everyday, *exercise 4/5 times a week. 4. Current obsession/collection: sudoku, redecorating, & bottling apples & salsa, . 5. Random surprising facts about me : I am teaching my daughter piano, My favorite food is Indian food, I love Spinning, I really want to have a "Jackie O" suit, I love "Gilmore Girl" Reruns, BBC Dramas & The "Office", I think Barrak Obama is awesome, & I don't like Stephanie Meyers novels.

Loving the saucer, He gets excited when ever he sees it and will jump and jump 'til I put him in.
His first experience with food. Not so thrilled yet, we'll have to try again later.
#2 is really loving his Saturday soccer practices. I love watching him play hard and come home sweaty and tired.
So I hate, hate, hate grocery shopping and meal planning for the week! For a couple of years Darren was going to put together a program so I could pick recipes for the week and then print a shopping list and the recipes all in a few minutes. Since he has loads of extra time to do this, it never got done. Fortunately, someone beat him to the punch. My sister told me about this website http://www.simplifysupper.com and I have tried it. The recipes are good and easy and there is a good variety to satisfy many diets and tastes. I would recommend doubling the recipes if you have a large family. We have enjoyed most of the recipes. I love that if I am in a hurry I can just print up the week they have set, or I can put together my own picks from their website. Well I am off to do my shopping.
Well the kids and Darren were off to the ward camp out in the rain. Kid #3 and I stayed home to cuddle in the warm house. Never fails that it rains every year at the camp out, buy no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't convince the kids that they needed to stay home this year. I decided to make Darren's favorite chili and snuggle up with a book after putting the baby down for the night.
I made up this recipe for Chili a few years ago and it was a hit, so we keep making it. It makes my mouth water thinking about it.
Jeni's chili 1 small onion chopped 1/2 green pepper, chopped 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey 1 clove garlic 1 TBSP oil Saute in large pot until beef is cooked. Then mix in : 2 TBSP Chili powder 2 tsp salt 1 tsp cummin 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp Adobo powder 1/2 tsp paprika 1/4 cayenne pepper or your favorite chili sauce we like tapatio or cholula
Don't forget to change to your own spicy needs. Then add: 1 28 oz can of Diced or crushed tomatoes 1 14 oz can of diced or crushed tomatoes 1 14 oz can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed. 1 14oz can of canellini (white) beans, drained and rinsed 1 can of corn, drained Simmer for 1/2 hour. Serve with cheese and sour cream. I am not sure how many this serves. Sometimes I freeze half for later and we still eat half for 2 meals.
I am finally posting the "Back to school" pictures! Kid #2, just started Kindergarten this week. Kid #1 has been going to a couple of weeks now, I thought I would post them at the same time. #1, had to have these shoes when she say them at Old Navy. She kept saying that the look this year, had to look like "rock-n-roll".

Mrs. H, #2's teacher. He is in the afternoon class. So far he hasn't had to be in the "thinking Chair". We are so proud.
This is the bus they both ride everyday. Its a thrill! #1, gets really upset when the bus driver is absent for some reason.
