I can't believe we haven't done more of this already, but we couldn't leave New England without taking the kids backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. We went
here over Father's Day.

The hikers all set to go. Everybody carried their share.

This is about a mile in from the trailhead. They toughed it out with no complaining.

First morning at camp. This was about 6 am.

We hiked up Wilson Slide Mountain for the view and to get in to cell phone coverage for a call to mom.

We've had lots of rain and everything was wet, but we managed to pull off a decent campfire for the second night.

6 miles round trip and everyone's grinning. Next year we'll have to tackle the Pacific Crest Trail.
